About Your Visit: Metairie & Destrehan Offices
Our mission is to professionally and courteously assist patients by the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries or disorders so as to achieve the most beneficial outcomes possible. Our goal is to have zero dissatisfied patients from any medical or non-medical service provided.
Physician Availability
Medical coverage is available at all times for our patients. Telephone calls, hospital rounds and emergency room consultations will be covered by one of our doctors scheduled to be "on-call" for after hours, a holiday or weekend.
X-rays
X-ray services are provided in our offices by licensed, certified technicians. X-rays taken at Pontchartrain Bone and Joint Clinic become part of our permanent record of your care at our facility. Our Metairie office is equipped with digital X-ray equipment.
Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a condition where bones become weak to the point of breaking. This weakening, especially in women, may be due to aging or caused by other factors that combine with age. We have a bone densiometer in our Metairie office which tests for osteoporosis by measuring the amount of bone mineral present in the hip and spine. This test is similar to an x-ray and takes only 20 minutes. It is highly recommended by the National Osteoporosis Foundation that all women over the age of 40 have this test. It is covered by most insurance plans. We will be pleased to provide additional information concerning this important test for osteoporosis.
Billing and Collection
We request that all amounts due be paid at the time services are rendered. We accept cash, checks, VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover as payment. Itemized statements listing amounts due are sent and we ask that you make arrangements to settle your account as soon as possible. We understand the financial difficulty associated with the cost of expert orthopaedic care. We will be glad to work with you regarding a balance due.
A job-related injury must be verified as a workers' compensation claim by the patient's employer. The billing will be handled directly with the employer or the responsible insurance carrier. The patient is ultimately responsible if payment is not made.
In cases involving legal action where any party is supposedly liable, we must hold the patient responsible for payment. We will treat these types of injuries as long as the patient or another responsible party agrees to make current payments.
Appointments
It is a pleasure for us to schedule an appointment with one of our doctors. Please call during office hours to schedule an appointment. We have a special option on our telephone system to direct patients to our appointment scheduling staff. Our doctors are very popular and usually have busy office schedules. However, we will be accommodating as possible to meet a request for a specific doctor, day or time. It is often possible to be seen on the same day depending on your medical problem and the schedules for the doctors in the office that day. Our scheduling staff will do everything they can to get an appointment as quickly as possible. Follow-up or return appointments are made after you are seen by your doctor at our check-out department and a reminder card is given to the patient.
Telephone Calls
Please feel free to call us with any questions regarding your condition, medication or treatment. If possible, an answer will be given immediately. Otherwise, a physician or his assistant will return the call within the same day.
Medication
Please keep abreast of your medications and have your pharmacy call our office for any refills during office hours. We suggest that you allow at least 24 hours to refill any prescription as a doctor will need to review the medical record and process the request. Prescriptions will not be refilled after hours or on holidays or weekends.
Insurance
We participate in many HMO and PPO plans and also accept assignment for all Medicare patients. As a courtesy to our patients, we process insurance claims for all insurance plans. The patient will be billed for any amounts due according to their coverage after the claim is processed. Our insurance personnel have extensive expertise and are happy to assist you with questions concerning your insurance coverage. Any authorizations that are required by your insurance plan will be handled by us.
